The first thing about aftercare is your sleep. During your first week, you should sleep only on your back and should not turn to your sides at all. We provide neck pillows, like the ones they give you in aeroplanes. You should sleep with neck pillow around your neck plus your regular pillow.
You will probably get around 5 to 7 different medications. Also, your translator should inform you about how and when you should take them. You are supposed to finish all the medicines that we give to you. Specifically, you should never miss your anti-inflammatory medication.
Things You Must Avoid the After Hair Transplant Operation
You should avoid certain things after the hair transplantation operation. In brief, they can be summarised as follows: tobacco products, alcohol consumption, and substantial physical activity.
First and foremost thing to avoid is tobacco. Nicotine in tobacco is generally associated with heart diseases. Two reasons for this are also relevant for hair transplantation. The first reason is tobacco’s effect on oxygenation. Smoking reduces the blood’s capacity to carry oxygen. That being said, oxygen is vital for your scalp tissue after the operation. The more oxygen your scalp gets, the faster the recovery becomes.
The second harmful effect of tobacco is related to nicotine. Nicotine narrows your blood vessels and increases intravenous pressure. Both restricted flow and increased pressure are detrimental to your healing process. We advise patients to quit smoking altogether, or at least reduce it to a minimum, for 7 to 14 days.
The second culprit to avoid is alcohol. Alcohol makes your blood thinner. And thus, consuming alcohol 48 hours before the operation increases your risk of bleeding. Losing extra blood may cause you to feel weak and dizzy during and after the operation. Another detrimental effect of alcohol is related to its fluid retaining properties. Alcohol forces your body to hold on to liquids to make metabolization easier. This, in turn, increases your inflammation rates.
Other Things That You Should Know
Meanwhile, fluids injected to your scalp during the operation, serum and local anaesthetics, also cause inflammation. The trauma caused by harvesting and implantation also triggers the body’s natural response too, which is also inflammation. So, drinking alcohol increases your risk of developing painful oedema greatly.
On top of this, most patients get prescribed with antibiotics after the operation. Mainly, this prescription aims to prevent any infection risk. Everybody knows that you shouldn’t consume alcohol at the same time with antibiotics. Hence, you are not allowed to drink a while after the operation at all.
Our next and final culprit is substantial physical activity. Going for a jog at the park or hitting the gym after work is a pretty healthy choice. Though, this is not the case here after the operation. After the hair transplantation operation, you should avoid any physical activity that makes you sweat or makes your blood pressure rise. Avoid these activities for 2 months unless told otherwise by your doctor. Sapphire Fue Hair Transplant
