Hair Transplant Long Term Side Effects
Although the rate of side effects that may occur in hair transplantation operations is much lower, compared to other aesthetic operations, you may experience some complication in inexperienced hands.
You may minimize the risks and side effects by following this; medical doctors should involve in the process, and the Ministry of Health should approve the procedure. The patient has some duties in order to avoid the side effects of hair transplantation. You should inform your doctor about a previous illness, such as heart disease, cancer or hepatitis.
Very Common Side Effects of Hair Transplantation
Acne
Acne is one of the most common side effects. It is a small skin lesion that occurs during the months following the hair transplant operation.
Micromotor device pushes the roots under the skin during the collection phase. Aftershock hair loss, you may experience acne.
You can observe the acne formation from 2 weeks to 3 months. For this reason, the patients mustn’t neglect the massage and washings to the scalp aftershock shedding. It would be best if you also remembered that fast-food and malnutrition could increase acne.
Inflammation of the hair root
Hair root inflammation ( folliculitis ) may occur after the 2nd month of the healing period. Inflammations may occur in the root as a result of an inward extension of the hair follicles without turning back on the skin.
Sleeping and Loss of Feelings
As numbness is a common side effect in FUT sowing operations, the FUE method usually does not cause numbness today. The loss of feelings may last 6-12 months for some people, although the majority lasts for 24 hours. Especially in the donor region, the loss of feelings is common. The sense of drowsiness after hair transplantation can occur at a single point or in different areas. Sleepiness after hair transplantation can be worrying because it can last long, but it is temporary after the hair transplant operation
Asymmetry
Extension of the hair in the wrong direction and deterioration of the front hairline is one of the side effects. An error in the redesign of the anterior hairline or a wrongly opened channel is the first cause of asymmetric problems. In order to prevent asymmetries during hair transplantation, the structure of the hair and the level of shedding are crucial.
Rare Side Effects After Hair Transplantation
Necrosis
Necrosis is a type of tissue and small bruises on the skin. It may occur both in the donor area and in the recipient area due to bleeding, traumas, diabetes, and impacts. It is a very rare side effect. According to some studies, its rate is 1.4%, which is in 3-4 out of 500 patients. Smoking and alcohol use may significantly affect blood clotting rate. Therefore, we recommend not to use tobacco products for at least a month.
Pigment Change
Pigment deformation or pigment change is a slight discolouration of the skin in the planting area after hair transplantation. Especially in the first month after planting, insufficient protection of the planting area from the sun can lead to pigment change. Therefore the patient must meet all the guidelines.
Limited Hair Growth
One of the rare side effects of hair transplantation is limited hair growth. Holding the grafts outside for a long time, opening the channels very close to each other and making frequent transplantation cause the hair not to grow. In case of insufficient hair, you may consider a new hair transplantation
Does Hair Transplant Damage Brain Tissue or Cause Cancer?
Hair transplantation doesn’t harm brain tissue. It is impossible for doctors to reach there. Furthermore, there are no published studies of hair transplantation causing cancer. Research has shown that cancer originates from genetic or unhealthy nutrition, environmental pollution and genetically modified foods.
